I’m officially back online post-wedding, and I’m so grateful for all of the love and well-wishes I’ve received. Thank you to everyone who reached out, checked in, or celebrated with us from near or far.
As many of you can imagine, planning and executing a wedding is a huge, transformative experience, both logistically and emotionally. Even with all of that intensity, I had an amazing time and met (or exceeded!) the goals I set for our wedding weekend.
In reflecting, I’ve realized something important: planning and executing a (destination) wedding, especially without a planner, is not just an event. It is a special project and a leadership endeavor.
Many of the tactics I used to keep different aspects of the wedding on track are the same leadership competencies I use in my career, my relationships, and my own self-development. I’m honestly tickled, and a bit surprised, that more people who have planned weddings don’t talk about the level of leadership, business acumen, creativity, and follow-through required to pull something like this off. So I’m going to.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing individual leadership lessons reflected in my recent wedding.
